First week Observation at SMP Pembangunan Lab. UNP
06/08/2018 - 10/08/2018

I have to wake up at 5:00 AM and arrive at school before 6:30 AM because the school has activities before students begin their first class.
This week, I am doing real classroom observations, an important step before teaching an actual class. Observing a real classroom helps me understand both the similarities and differences between the education systems and students in Thailand and Indonesia.
One similarity is the goal of education—we want students to gain knowledge and experience during their learning. However, there are also key differences I need to be aware of before teaching, especially cultural differences. For example, Thai and Indonesian cultures have different customs. Before stepping into the classroom, I need to consider what is appropriate and what is not in different situations. One important cultural rule in Thailand is that I should not point at people or hand things to them using my left hand, as it is considered impolite and unclean.
This observation experience is helping me prepare for real teaching by giving me insight into classroom dynamics and cultural expectations.
